Join the Northern California Art Therapy Association!

NorCATA is the 2nd largest, and one of the fastest growing chapters of the American Art Therapy Association!  This is your chance to become an active and dedicated participant in the field of art therapy.  Increase your knowledge and network in this specialized therapeutic practice.

  • Networking Opportunities:   Meet other professionals and students at our quarterly workshops and biennial conferences.  Connect with peers and experts in the field of art therapy across the state and around the country, sharing ideas, and increasing your knowledge of the field. Members also receive automatic discounts on NorCATA conference attendance, continuing education workshops, seminars, and retreats throughout the year.

  • Leadership Potential:  NorCATA offers a wide range of opportunities for professional development, including presenting at the biennial NorCATA Conference, and other local events. Members are also invited and encouraged to participate in leadership roles throughout the Chapter, including committee and board-level positions, as well as regional representatives.  We have current openings

  • Online Therapist Search:  Registered and Board Certified art therapists and/or licensed members' profiles are automatically listed in our online directory.  This referral list is a resource to assist individuals, organizations/agencies, students, and colleagues in search of art therapy services, consultation, and supervision throughout the State of California.  You control what information is visible

  • Relax and Make Art:  As an organization that values self-expression through art making, NorCATA regional reps around the bay area hold periodic/regular group art making sessions that are open to all members.  

  • Build on Your Skills:  NorCATA is proud to present low-cost continuing education workshops in a relaxed atmosphere where we can learn and grow from sharing with one another
  • Supervisor Listing and Referral:  You can update your profile with your availability as a supervisor

  • Quarterly Newsletter:  The NorCATA eNewsletter is full of information and articles on professional topics, member profiles, chapter events and event reviews.  Members are welcome to submit content

  • A New Blog and Member Forum: Communicate easily with other members.  Make announcements, request and offer  referrals, discuss issues impacting our field, and keep up with professional topics of interest 

  • Mentor Program: Find a mentor or be one! Our mentor program gives members support and guidance throughout our community
  • Volunteer Opportunities: Join our board of directors, become a regional representative, help plan regional events, provide editorial input or content for our newsletter, bring your expertise and leadership skills to one of our committees, or get involved in community service projects as a group facilitator or as part of a disaster mental health trauma response team through the Red Cross
  • Advertising:  COMING SOON!  All members get free classified ads.  Information about postings will be available soon. Ads must comply with BBS requirements.  Ad categories will be Office Space, Groups and Workshops, Job Opportunities, for clinicians, for associates, trainees, and students.   Other advertising opportunities will also be available 

  • Sponsorship Opportunities:   NorCATA is pleased to offer sponsorship opportunities to companies, organizations and individuals who are interested in supporting our mission and/or have products and services of interest to our membership.
