This workshop will introduce the Art Therapy Relational Neuroscience (ATR-N) approach; a comprehensive integration of art therapy and interpersonal neurobiology. The six CREATE principles: Creative Embodiment, Relational Resonating, Expressive Communicating, Adaptive Responding, Transformative Integrating, and Empathizing and Compassion (Hass-Cohen & Clyde Findlay 2015) will be briefly reviewed via a case study. Participants will then experience and discuss a trauma /resiliency ATR-N protocol “CHECK, Change and/or Keep What You Need”.
Participants, including Art Therapists, Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Social Workers, and Educational Psychologists, should be able to describe the 6 CREATE principles:
Joanna Clyde Findlay, MA, ATR, is a licensed marriage and family therapist and registered art therapist. She is an adjunct professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies San Francisco CA, publishing and presenting nationally and internationally on the clinical application of art therapy and relational neuroscience; her most recent book is Art Therapy and the Neuroscience of Relationships, Creativity and Resiliency (2015). English by birth, Joanna has studied and practiced in London, Paris, and Los Angeles. Joanna integrates family therapy, art therapy, and mindfulness practices in her clinical work in Private Practice in San Rafael and San Francisco.

Continuing Education Policy
All workshops and conferences sponsored by NorCATA are accepted for continuing education by the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB). NorCATA has been approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP 6832). Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. NorCATA is solely responsible for all aspects of our programs. NorCATA has also been approved by the California Association for Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider (CEPA 57985). All courses are approved for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs.

NorCATA continuing education is defined as the number of actual clock hours spent in direct participation in a structured educational format as a learner.
