Directions: The FRC is on the Technology Middle School campus. From the street entrance, go all the way to the back of the parking lot. At the street, you will find signs for Family Resource Center which will guide you. Look for the tan and green modular building in front of the field.

Art Making and the iPad: Exploring the Use of Tablet Devices Within a Therapeutic Environment 9:30am - 11:30am 2 CEUs available Learning objectives: 1: Participants/Attendees will be able to list at least two (2) ways to research art-making apps as well as at least three (3) criteria for choosing an art-making app. 2: Participants/Attendees will be able to demonstrate at least three (3) features in each art-making application: Paper 53 (drawing), Keynote (collage) and Book Creator (books). 3: Participants/Attendees will be able to describe at least three (3) ways art-making applications can be used and/or adapted for use within their therapy/counseling practice. Art materials required: Registrants to bring iPad if possible. If you can, make sure to install the following two free apps: Paper 53 and Book Creator, and Keynote (should be already pre-installed on iPad.) Make sure to RSVP and indicate whether you are bringing an iPad, so that Liz can plan. 11:30-12:45 Lunch on your own (details TBD)

Focusing Oriented Art Therapy (FOAT) and Mindfulness Practice 12:45pm - 4:15pm 3 CEUs available This workshop will introduce the basic theoretical and practice frameworks of Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy (FOAT) and how it is a mindfulness-based approach. You will learn the basic concepts of the Focusing Attitude, felt sense, and learn how they cultivate self-compassion and access to the body’s inherent wisdom. The workshop will include a Theme-Based FOAT approach in which you will learn how to combine mindfulness practices (mindful breathing and Pebble Meditation) with Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy. Clinical application included. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to describe what Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy is. 2. Participants will be able to describe what the Focusing Attitude is and how it is a core component cultivating mindful awareness and acceptance. 3. Participants will be able to describe how to integrate mindfulness practice with Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy. |
